About Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a country of great beauty, rich in history and spirit, yet it is one of the poorest nations in the world. Bangladesh is plagued by disease, natural disasters, an average literacy rate of 48% and severe over-population. Over 160 million people live in a country that is slightly smaller than the state of Iowa and over 1/3 of that population is below the poverty line. Consequently, the standard of living is very low, especially for the large orphan population.
